Like many Cozy Mystery readers, Annie Hudson grew up reading Nancy Drew, the Hardy Boys and watching Scooby Doo.
Annie feels that a Cozy Mystery is a fun, creative genre that invites many opportunities to include ‘real’ life places and ideas. The fictional characters often times include a simple human ‘flaw’ or quality that we all recognize in ourselves. She feels that what makes them magical is being able to incorporate a paranormal experience without graphic or scary details. Just a good clean read to clear the mind. Often you’ll hear her describe the genre as the “Hallmark” (like the movies) of mystery reading.
You will sometimes find her enjoying art in the form of painting – mostly watercolor work of pets – as a way to relax. And of course, reading. Some of her favorite authors include Dan Brown, Jodie Picoult, and David Baldacci.
She and her husband live in the piedmont region of North Carolina, about an hour from the Eastern Continental Divide. They have three adult children, and love to travel. Recently enjoying Italy where they met the cover illustrator for “The Case of the Haunted Heirlooms”, “The Missing Masterpiece Murder”, “The Secrets of the Sorority Sisters” and “The Greedy Ghost Hunting Guest”.
The couple has had 4 dogs in their 29 years of marriage, recently losing “Lizzie”, a whippet/pit mix rescue dog who is a big part of the character Emma Anders’ life. She brought joy instantly to any room she occupied.
Annie is deeply involved in creating a full six book series for Emma Anders.
The Emma Anders Mystery Series includes:
The Case of the Haunted Heirlooms (a fun, short pre-quel)
The Missing Masterpiece Murder
The Secrets of the Sorority Sisters
