William (Bill) Fernie is an aeronautical engineer, former flying instructor and author of the Tom Munro series of historical fiction novels. Letters to Louisa and Dark Treaty are the first books in this series, with Rapallo’s Shadow following shortly.
Following a short spell in the merchant navy, Bill read aeronautical engineering at university and served for sixteen years in the Royal Air Force as an Engineering Officer, completing his service as a military intelligence analyst. He formed his own company after his RAF service and managed to combine his marine and aeronautical skills in what proved to be his most fulfilling work. Sign up to Bill’s email list to receive updates on his writing exploits and a newsletter which includes a regular feature entitled An Aviator’s Life where Bill describes his unusual flying career to date.
Throughout his working life, Bill satisfied his maritime and aeronautical interests by sailing and flying classic aircraft, although his aviation interests are now confined to writing, having recently “hung up his headset”.
Bill is married with two grown-up daughters and lives in Hampshire, UK. Watch out for the next book in the Tom Munro series, Rapallo’s Shadow, and keep in touch via this website or find him on Facebook/Meta @billferniebooks.
