Blackbird Fly

Eat Pray Love meets cozy mystery in France

Secrets from the post-war period, when southwest France was left to wither by Nazi occupation, and secrets of a newer kind, disrupt what should be a fine French summer for Merle. With her teenage son in tow, a sexy roofer in her kitchen, and a nasty discovery in the garden, there is plenty to keep her mind off her endless to-do list.

“The descriptions of the French village and house make them a character. Blackbird Fly has love and intrigue, and proof that family bonds are strong enough to reach beyond the grave.”

""Murder, mayhem, a taste for France and so much more It is rare that I truly LOVE novels and rarer still that I love free ones:) This book, and I suspect the series, is a gem. The main character, Merle Bennett, could have been me, though I"m not a lawyer, have never inherited a house in France, and never had her problems. The writing puts you in the book. That's one of its strengths. Then, the characters are so real. I've spent enough time in France to know that Albert, Mme Suchet, and the others in the village who snubbed, helped, or sabotaged Merle are just so ... French. The story unfolds just as it should along with Merle's self-discovery and personal regrets. I don't see how this book could have been better and cannot wait to read the series.""
