A Saga of Valor Novella

They took me in the dead of night. . . well not just me, there were others, but most are gone now. They took us to a deep, deep place. The kind with magic, where only the Tallmen and fairies go. They beat us, they starved us, they took our minds, and broke our souls. . . well, most anyways. Part of me survived and this is my tale. . .

""I really enjoyed this read! It was an interesting first person read that explores the heartache behind reeducation camps in a fantasy setting. The main character, who loses his name to later find his true identity, is a 10 year old boy who is kidnapped and forced into a reeducation camp for an unknown reason (initially!). He is tortured both physically and mentally and through a beautiful telling we see the character not only survive, but also find who he really is and begin to thrive. This is my second book by the author and this story is clearly a spin off from the first, which is important to note. I think the story could be read and thoroughly enjoyed without reading Ascendant, but it helps to understand the gravity of what’s happening and what’s at stake in this world to have read Ascendant." "This was the first book I’ve read by this author. The quick chapters made it easy to find time to pick this book up and read a little bit more. I told my husband he has to read it next so we can discuss it. The ending beautifully offers hope, without dismissing the harsh reality of evil lurking in the world and the damage it can inflict. I look forward to checking out other stories from this author!""
